Product description & Growing guide

Thalictrum aquilegiifolium 'Thundercloud' (French meadow rue 'Thundercloud') is a member of the Ranunculaceae family. This perennial exhibits a clump forming growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – cold winter (-15 to -10ºc) – hardy through most of the UK even in severe winters. May not withstand open or exposed sites or central / northerly locations. Many evergreens suffer foliage damage and plants in pots will be at increased risk.

When fully mature, Thalictrum aquilegiifolium 'Thundercloud' can reach an ultimate height of 0.5–1 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam soil types and should be placed in a partial shade position.
