Teucrium chamaedrys (wall germander) is a member of the Lamiaceae family. This perennial exhibits a bushy growth habit and is characterized by its evergreen foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) – hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.
When fully mature, Teucrium chamaedrys can reach an ultimate height of 0.1–0.5 metres and a spread of 0.1–0.5 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers south–facing, west–facing, east–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, sand, loam soil types and should be placed in a full sun position.
