Wisteria sinensis 'Prolific' (Chinese wisteria 'Prolific') is a member of the Fabaceae family. This climber exhibits a climbing growth habit and is characterized by its deciduous foliage. It has a hardiness rating of hardy – very cold winter (-20 to -15ºc) – hardy throughout the UK and northern Europe. Many plants grown in containers will be damaged unless given protection.
When fully mature, Wisteria sinensis 'Prolific' can reach an ultimate height of 8–12 metres and a spread of Wider than 8 metres. For optimal growth, it prefers west–facing, south–facing aspect and sheltered exposure. It thrives best in chalk, clay, loam, sand soil types and should be placed in a full sun, partial shade position.
